Gravelbike Siebengebirge
Gravelbike Siebengebirge – just the sound of this combination awakens a thirst for adventure. Our 50-kilometre loop over forest gravel, vineyards and panoramic plateaus takes you directly from Oberwinter into the green heart between Bonn and Königswinter. Pack your helmet, pump up your studded tires and discover how close your next micro-adventure is – the apartment is your base camp!
ROUTE AT A GLANCE
The start is the Rhine promenade in Oberwinter. After a short roll-in on the bank, we cross over the ferry to Königswinter – perfect for the first photo stop at Drachenfels after just a few kilometers. The track then winds its way through the Nachtigallental valley up to Margarethenhöhe. Here we switch to finely rolled gravel: the old Rheinhöhenweg provides flow passages under beech crowns before a rapid descent to Ittenbach puts the brakes on. Kilometer 25 marks the highest point on the Stenzelberg (383 m); the panoramic view of the Eifel is the reward. The Leyberg trail rolls almost non-stop downhill to the Rolandsbogen – the perfect spot for a snack with a postcard view of the Rhine. The last 8 kilometers back to the vacation apartment are on the asphalted Rhine cycle path – ideal for a ride out.
HIGHLIGHTS & PHOTO SPOTS
Rhine-View Drachenfelsplateau: 180-degree panorama as far as the top of Cologne Cathedral.
Stenzelberg ridge: lava pillow basalt creates a Jurassic Park feeling.
Rolandsbogen-Ruine: Golden Hour over the Rhine – hashtag guarantee.
For Instagram stories, we recommend the sunset between km 42 and 45; the mountain silhouettes turn orange as cargo ships pass below you.
If you prefer vlogging, you’ll find a bench with a stable tripod spot on the Geisberg.
