FAQ

About us

Here we answer the most important questions about our smart home in Bonn-Bad Godesberg

1. Exactly what smart home functions does the Bonn smart home offer (e.g. lighting, heating, music, TV) and how easy are they to operate?

In the Smart Home Bonn, you can conveniently control many functions via a modern smart home system:

With Philips Hue, Amazon Alexa and Google Nest, you can adjust the lighting mood, music and individual devices by voice command or app. The radiators are equipped with tado° thermostats so that you can also control the room temperature smartly.

A UHD Samsung TV and Apple TV are also available in the living area, which you can use to watch your favorite series and films via streaming services (with your own accounts). We explain the most important functions briefly and clearly in the digital guest folder so that you can quickly find your way around.

2. Can I also use the Bonn smart home in the classic way, without voice control – i.e. only with normal switches and remote controls?

Yes, of course.

Even if the home is designed as a “smart home”, you can still use everything in the classic way: Light via normal light switches, heating via the thermostats on the radiators (despite tado°, these can be adjusted manually at any time by turning them) and the TV via the remote control.

The smart home functions are a convenience extra, not a must. If you like Alexa & Co., use them – if not, the home works completely without voice control.

3. How do I reach the Smart Home Bonn in the house – and is access suitable for guests with lots of luggage or baby carriages?

The Smart Home Bonn is located in an apartment building in Bonn-Bad Godesberg on the 2nd floor. You can reach the apartment via the regular house entrance and the staircase.

Depending on your mobility and the amount of luggage, carrying suitcases or a baby carriage up the stairs may require some planning. If your mobility is severely restricted or you have a lot of equipment with you, please contact us before booking – we will then check together whether the Smart Home or one of the Oberwinter apartments is more suitable for you.

4. How is the balcony of the Smart Home Bonn oriented – do I have a view of the Siebengebirge and do I have morning or evening sun?

The balcony of the Smart Home Bonn is a real highlight:

The floor-to-ceiling windows give you direct access to the balcony and a wide view over the Siebengebirge and plenty of greenery. Depending on the time of day, you have soft morning light or atmospheric lighting moods in the evening – ideal for your first coffee, a short laptop session outdoors or a glass of wine at the end of the day. The photos on the Smart Home page give you a very realistic impression of the view and light.

5. What noise level should I expect – rather quiet residential area or urban background (street, neighbors, public transport)?

The Smart Home Bonn is located in Bonn-Bad Godesberg in a good residential area – with a mixture of homely tranquillity and a discreet urban background.

You are close to infrastructure such as REWE, organic market, bus stop and the Rhine; accordingly, there is a certain urban background noise, but no busy main road directly in front of the balcony. Many guests find the location an ideal compromise between urban proximity and a relaxed atmosphere – especially as you can easily reach the center of Bad Godesberg in about 5 minutes on foot .

6. How far are REWE, organic markets, cafés, restaurants and the Rhine from the Bonn smart home – what can I easily reach on foot?

Around the Smart Home Bonn, you will find everything you need for everyday life within a few minutes’ walk:

  • REWE and organic market: approx. 2 minutes on foot – perfect for quick shopping
  • Cafés & restaurants and the BaGo City Center: around 5 minutes’ walk away
  • Rhine & riverside area: ideal for walks, jogging or a short break by the water – also within easy walking distance

So you can do a lot on foot during your stay without having to get in the car all the time.

7. What does the work area in the Smart Home Bonn look like – is there a suitable place to work with a laptop (table, chair, light, sockets)?

The central work area in the Smart Home Bonn is the large dining table in the eat-in kitchen.

Up to six people can sit comfortably at this table – just as suitable for individual work with a laptop as for a small team or project meeting. Thanks to stable WiFi, floor-to-ceiling windows with plenty of natural light and sufficient power sockets, the apartment is ideal for remote work, longer business stays or a workation in Bonn-Bad Godesberg.

8. Is the Smart Home Bonn suitable for families with a baby or small child (space for a crib, balcony, play facilities nearby)?

The Smart Home Bonn is primarily designed for couples, single travelers and business travelers, but can also work well with a baby or small child, depending on the constellation:

  • There is space for a baby crib in the sleeping or living area
  • The balcony is normally secured; if you have small children, we recommend deliberately closing doors and keeping an eye on their use
  • The Bad Godesberg spa gardens with playgrounds and mini golf are within walking distance, which is a nice plus for families with children

If you would like to travel with a child, please write to us in advance so that we can check together whether the setup suits you.

9. How does parking near the Smart Home Bonn actually work and how do I use the public e-charging station for my electric car?

Free parking is available along the street in the vicinity of the Smart Home Bonn; guests can usually find a parking space in the immediate vicinity of the house.

There is also a public e-charging station directly on the street where you can charge your electric car during your stay. Charging takes place as normal via the provider of the charging station (e.g. charging card or app). This allows you to combine the convenience of a central city location with practical accessibility by car and e-vehicle.

10. Are pets allowed in the Smart Home Bonn?

Unfortunately, pets are not allowed in the Smart Home Bonn.

We have deliberately designed this apartment as a pet-free accommodation – also with regard to allergy sufferers and guests with particularly high hygiene requirements. If you would like to travel with your dog, we would be happy to check whether one of our locations in Oberwinter(Comfort Studio or Deluxe Apartment) would suit you better.
